Short answer: This is usually caused by hidden photo orientation data, not a problem with your file.
What’s happening
Some devices save photos with orientation information (called metadata) instead of rotating the image itself. A photo may look correct on your device, but once it’s uploaded, that hidden data can cause it to appear sideways or upside down.
Your photo hasn’t been damaged — it just needs to be saved in a different way.
How to fix it
Open the original photo in a photo editing program or Preview on your computer.
Rotate the image 360° until it once again appears right-side up.
Save the image as a new file.
Upload the newly saved file to your cookbook.
This usually resolves the issue right away.
