How to Invite Contributors to Work on Your Cookbook

Our 'Contributors' feature is a great tool that allows multiple people to contribute to one book directly through the Heritage Cookbook program.



If you're a main account holder (aka, the main cookbook organizer), there are a few ways you can make the contributor process as smooth as possible.

Before you've invited them, we recommend sending out a message to your future contributors to provide them with information about what to expect. The more knowledge they have, the fewer questions you'll have to field! Here's our recommend message:

Hello! I'm organizing a cookbook for _____, and am planning to invite you as a contributor. Here's what will happen once I've sent out the link:

When you send out the contributor request, contributors should receive two emails (see attached screenshot):

 

The first is an email that will ask them to verify their email -- they should click on the "Verify Email" teal button, which will take them to the Heritage Cookbook website. 

 

Then, they should go BACK into their email inbox and click on the second email, which will say "Bridget Johnston has invited you to contribute to their cookbook!"

In that email, there will be a code that they can highlight and copy, then click the "Start contributing" button, which will take them back to the Heritage Cookbook website. There, they can login using their email account + the code they copied from the email, which acts as a password. Once they login, they should see your book, which they can click on. That'll take them into the editing dashboard, where they can add recipes. 

1) You'll receive two emails: The first will ask you to verify your email by clicking on the teal "Verify Email" button, which will take you to the Heritage Cookbook website. 

Next, go back into your inbox for the second email: This one will say "____ has invited you to contribute to their cookbook." At the bottom will be a code -- this is your temporary password. Copy the temporary password, and go back to the login screen at heritagecookbook.com. Enter your email address + temporary password, and you'll be in your new account! If you'd like to reset your password, you can click on your name in the upper right corner of your dashboard, select "My Account," then click "Change Password."

3) Once you're successfully into your account, look for my book under the title "Books I am contributing to." The book I've invited you to contribute to will be below it, with my book title at the top and the 'stock title' appearing on the book cover. Once you're into the book you can enter your recipe + any photos if you have them.
